Why presence matters: My takeaways from RenderATL

Sharing Zillow’s story at RenderATL showed me the power of authenticity and connections.

Last month, I had the honor of representing Zillow at RenderATL and it was such a rewarding experience!

If you’re not familiar, RenderATL is more than just a tech conference — it’s a culture-shifting event that blends software engineering, community and culture. It brings together professionals from all over to talk tech, inclusion, innovation and everything in between. The energy is unmatched, and the focus on creating space for diverse voices in tech is what makes it truly special.

It was so refreshing to be in a space that celebrates diversity in tech — connecting with people from all backgrounds, hearing their stories and sharing a few of my own.

One moment that really “turned on the lights” for me was attending our panel discussion about remote-first work, or as we call it, Cloud HQ. This means our employees have the ability to work everywhere they are most productive — from home, from the office or a mix of both. It sparked so many thoughtful takeaways, and I got to continue those conversations back at our booth — sharing how Zillow’s Cloud HQ culture has been a game changer for my own work-life balance. It was refreshing to connect with others who are navigating similar shifts in their careers.

We brought an the authentic energy to the event that stood out to our attendees. Our presence wasn’t just about swag or branding, but about real people having real conversations about what it’s like to work at Zillow, and how we’re building meaningful tools for real estate professionals along with innovations to help more people get home.

Representation, visibility and connection are powerful. Being present at events like RenderATL shows that we’re invested in the future of tech — and in making that future more accessible to everyone.

Celebrating connection and culture

For anyone looking to make an impact with our team at events like these, here’s my advice: Be curious and be yourself. Some of the best moments came from simple, genuine conversations. You don’t have to have all the answers, just be ready to share your perspective.

If there’s one thing I hope people walked away knowing about Zillow, it’s this: We’re a company that truly supports our people — through flexibility, growth and a culture that encourages you to show up as your full self.
