In a world where connection is at our fingertips, I was excited to create two impactful virtual events for Zillow that brought together unique perspectives and vibrant voices. As the strategist and planner for these events, I was thrilled to embrace Zillow’s Core Values in my work:
I aimed to create casual, conversational atmospheres that mimicked the feel of a podcast — easy, flowing discussions that resonated with all viewers. I wanted to make transparency the heart of the conversation, and in my opinion, it delivered.
The first event, “Thriving on Your Terms,” partnered with Fairygodboss, was an interesting experience for me. While preparing, I was introduced to the panelists for the first time through my manager, Arielle Julie, who connected with these phenomenal women during a Safari.
From our first prep call to discuss possible themes and outlines for the event, I could just tell that Chantal Lewis, Haile Shavers and Whitney Griffith were going to bring an abundance of personal and professional experiences to the table. This real-time discovery added an extra layer of excitement as I unfolded their insights while simultaneously planning.

I think my favorite part of this journey was bringing together four amazing women, all with different backgrounds and work experiences, unified in the belief that you are in the driver’s seat of your career — no one else. Some of my favorite quotes were:
The level of transparency was so strong, the audience was utilizing the live chat to ask for a part 2!

For our next virtual event, we collaborated with PowerToFly for “Crafting Your Narrative,” an event specifically designed for military to civilian transitions. This session offered practical strategies for service members and their support networks, focusing on how to translate military experience into civilian success.
Unlike the first event, I knew exactly who I wanted to participate and reached into my own network pocket. I sent the ask to a fellow Zillow employee, Tina Turner, MSW, MHRIR, PHR, U.S. Army veteran, who has a powerful story; and a former co-worker, Chris Ann Phillips, Marine Corps veteran, who is a powerhouse in her space. They both said “yes” without hesitation!
As the event unfolded, I could feel the energy between the panelists. They shared candid insights about their journeys, fielding questions and offering advice that was both relatable and inspiring. What stood out was the camaraderie that developed not just among the panelists but also with the audience, creating a supportive community where individuals felt empowered to embrace their narratives. Seeing this connection was a reminder of how vital these conversations are, especially during pivotal career transitions.

The passion exuding from our panelists was contagious. The energy that was radiating through the screen? Chef’s kiss!

Reflecting on these two events, I’m proud of what we achieved. By showcasing individuals from various industries and experience levels, we achieved a genuine exchange of ideas that went beyond professional boundaries. This approach was intentional. Rather than hosting events in isolation, we wanted to foster an environment of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Special shoutout to Fairygodboss and Power To Fly, too. Their established platforms allowed me to focus on the content and the “why,” instead of worrying about logistics like muting lines or recording the calls. These co-branded partnerships made planning smoother and provided a richer experience for everyone involved.
(An added bonus for my fellow marketers and event planners — I love the idea of large-scale branding opportunities that require zero budget for travel!)
By bridging networks and harnessing collective wisdom, we can drive positive change within our communities. As we move forward, I’m excited to explore new opportunities for connection, to continue amplifying unique voices and to ensure that every event we host aligns with our mission to “Turn on the Lights” and empower others. Together, we’re paving the way for meaningful conversations that drive change and inspire action.
