This was my first time attending an event like Nextplay, and I have to say — representing Zillow alongside an incredible group of Mexico-based tech professionals was such a rewarding experience. At the event, I had the chance to meet folks across the industry and even connect in person with some of my engineering colleagues. It was great to hear firsthand what they’ve been exploring lately and what they’re passionate about.

One of the stand out moments was a fireside chat featuring Zillow Mexico’s Country Lead and Senior Director of Engineering, Julio Saenz, along with Alan Rivera, Zillow’s Director of International Recruiting. They pulled back the curtain on Zillow’s mission, values and tech strategy — but what truly resonated with the audience was hearing about the real impact Zillow is making in the U.S., the technologies we’re using to help people get home, and how Mexico-based talent is driving that impact.

A night of connection, culture and tech

There was also a lot of buzz around Cloud HQ, Zillow’s distributed workplace model. The audience loved hearing how we stay connected, collaborate across borders and build real community without being in a traditional office.

The entire experience was a beautiful blend of tech and Mexican culture — vibrant live music, Tajín-rimmed drinks and colorful floral decor set the scene, while engineers, data scientists, marketers and other professionals from the tech space filled the room with energy and curiosity.
