Zillow closed out October with a bang at the JS Conference, a prominent gathering for JavaScript developers. One of our senior engineers, Fernando Salazar, delivered an engaging tech presentation, while I connected with numerous engineers eager to learn more about Zillow’s mission and our impact in Mexico through our engineering office. It was incredibly rewarding to witness the strong interest in our technologies, particularly our augmented reality app, alongside the effective branding displayed at our booth.

I found the discussions with engineers about Zillow and their curiosity about our initiatives enlightening. Their genuine interest and thoughtful questions reminded me just how impactful the work we’re doing really is.

Building connections and strengthening our identity

Meeting with engineers in person brought a whole new energy, as I could see their reactions and the buss we’re creating e in the market. It also provided invaluable insights into how to effectively pitch Zillow in under five minutes, ensuring we capture attention without overwhelming them with information.

Being well-aligned with organizations within the tech community is essential, as they represent the cultures from which we aim to attract talent. Events like these are more than just networking opportunities — they’re a chance to show that Zillow is a serious player in the Mexican tech scene.

The additional activities, including Catrina makeup, significantly enhanced the experience. They not only attracted the attention of event attendees but also fostered curiosity about our brand and culture.

Although we don’t currently have a product operating in Mexico, showcasing Zillow as a leading technology company at these events helps to build a strong identity in the market. Our presence at JSConf and impact on attendees reaffirmed for me why Zillow is an employer of choice here in Mexico.
