Regents Exams (RE)

In 2011-2012 New York used the New York State Regents Examinations to test high school students in English language arts, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics and several foreign languages. The results for English language arts, math, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics, global history and geography, and US history and government are displayed in GreatSchools profiles. Students must take at least five Regents Exams in order to graduate. Scores of 65 and above are passing; scores of 55 and above earn credit toward a local diploma (with the approval of the local board of education). The goal is for all students to pass the tests.

This school is great. As a student I see how students and teachers act. Of course there are those annoying teachers but most are really nice and car about each of their students. I have not seen any fights or bullying going on. There are bad students as in every school but if you stay with the right group of people you'll be fine. I recommend this school.

High School is a scary place. Parents and kids who are looking for a high school should remember their High School experience and not have some lofty goals of what High School looks like on TV. That being said if you child wants to learn and you are doing your job as a parent your child will do well. New Utrecht High School has an amazing staff. Any time I reach out to the school I am given their full attention - even during the summer for make-up Regents exams. My first child graduated with a 103 average (AP and Honors Courses) and received a free ride to St Francis College. My second son has a 90 average and has received multiple scholarship opportunities for College. My third son will be attending in the Fall and I have no doubt that he will do well. Be a part of your childs' education go to conferences check out the website join the PTA. Make it a learning experience for both of you.

Most of the teachers are great but the students there are horrible. My experience in this high school was extremely boring. the only reason you would want to go to new Utrecht high school is for their sports teams. I am a freshman here and the students are disrespectful as well as some of the staff.I am a straight A honors students and have never had such a horrible experience in any other school. do not send your children here.

I am a graduate. I graduated two years ago back in 2011. New Utrecht HS is a pretty good high school an average school. It is not had in fact it is the most easier high school to attend and do well by getting a good grade. When I first started few years ago like 6 years ago back in 2007 when I first walk into the school I hate it. And I still felt the same until my sophomore year in Utrecht. Since I hate the school at the beginning I wanted to leave that go and transfer out to Fort Hamilton but it is not up to me not the only one who wants to transfer there others kids as well. But I stood in that school for the past four years from 2007 started and graduate in 2011. There be students who attend Utrecht for a year or two and left. I stood in the school and met great teacher who I had some of the teachers are nice easy to get alone maybe a couples of them are strict. I friends with some of those teachers outside the school and still stay in contact with them. I would love to come back to Utrecht to teach in the near future as a teacher a physical education teacher teaching a gym class and maybe beoming a coach for the baseball team or something. MY son had a gread freshman year and will be a sophomore next year. The all the teachers are wonderful and willing to help and the principal gets an A+ for running a great school. I am so happy we chose New Utrecht high school.

I am going to be a sophomore at this school and have very little negative things to say about it. Every school has its bad kids and exceptional kids but of course the media and newspapers and students like to talk about the troublemakers. Its a good school and I've rarely seen any fights or bullying. Ever school has its drinkers and smokers so don't let a few bad kids define a whole school. The staff is nice the kids are polite and funny and the education is very good as well.

My son attended this school in its Zoned program (now attending NYU) and this school is just an average school--nothing too spectacular yet it is not as terrible as some other schools. The only problem I have with this school is the large amount of rowdy disorderly students most of which infiltrate the nearby subway station. Also a lot of students from this school smoke. There are some teachers who really care about your student and will make an effort to contact you; however there are some that just don't care.
