Hey, neighbor! We are committed to helping everyone find their way home and are dedicated to ensuring everyone on Zillow is treated fairly and respectfully.
Your use of our Services is conditioned on adherence to the Good Neighbor and Conduct Policy, also known as the “Good Neighbor Policy.”
This Policy applies to our users, which includes people looking to buy, sell, or finance, as well as the real estate and mortgage professionals who participate in those transactions and/or advertise on our websites and mobile apps. The Respectful Renting Pledge applies specifically to our Renter and Landlord users.
We expect all users to comply with applicable federal, state, and local fair housing and fair lending laws. We also urge our users to look beyond fair housing laws and expect everyone to treat the people they engage with through Zillow, including our employees, with respect and without prejudice.
On our websites and mobile apps, you may not post any advertisement or make any statement that discourages or indicates a preference for or against any user based on their membership in a protected class under federal, state, or local law.
If you are a real estate or mortgage professional, you may not refuse to work with or mistreat any user on account of a protected class under federal, state, or local law, or based on the demographic composition of the neighborhood where a property is located.
The Fair Housing Act makes it illegal to discriminate against or treat a potential buyer, seller, renter, borrower, or broker differently based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), disability or familial status. The Equal Credit Opportunity Act makes it illegal to discriminate against a credit applicant based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age, because an applicant receives income from a public assistance program, or because an applicant has in good faith exercised any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act.
In addition, many states and localities have adopted their own fair housing laws to expand upon these federal protections. These protections include prohibitions on discrimination based on an individual’s sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, source of income (including federal, state, or local rental-assistance programs, such as Section 8 housing choice vouchers and temporary rental assistance), age, veteran or military status, criminal history, or status as a victim of domestic violence.
Be honest and respectful of other users and of our employees. You may not post or otherwise communicate any discriminatory, harassing, abusive, illegal, obscene, threatening, or libelous content or communicate with other users or our employees in a way that we determine to be offensive or discriminatory. We will report potentially illegal content to law enforcement as required by law or as we otherwise deem to be necessary. Additionally, you may not use our websites or mobile apps to engage in other illegal communication, or disclosure of another person’s confidential or sensitive information, or post spam, non-property advertising, or purely self-promotional content in a listing. Your listing advertisements must comply with our Listing Quality Policy and may not include photos or content that infringes the copyrights of another person.
If we feel any content or conduct is inappropriate, discriminatory, off-topic or otherwise in violation of this Policy or our other Terms of Use, we reserve the right to remove it and/or take appropriate action, including restricting access to our site and to our products and services. If you engage in behavior that violates this Policy or could harm the reputation and/or good standing of the services offered by Zillow, we may revoke your account access, restrict your use of our websites and mobile apps, and/or terminate your participation in our programs.
Basically, respect our users and our employees. Be a good neighbor. And, if you see anything that is inappropriate, please report it.
We enjoy having you here and want to thank you for helping make Zillow more useful for everyone.
