Real Estate Professional Reviews and Ratings FAQ

What are real estate professional reviews and ratings?

It is when former, potential or existing clients of real estate professionals can write a review and rate real estate pros on Zillow.

Zillow's goal has always been to empower consumers with information and tools to make smart decisions about homes, real estate and mortgages. We feel reviews and ratings of real estate professionals - real estate agents, lenders and others -- can be a useful tool to help consumers make a more informed choice about the real estate pro they want to use.

Think of it as getting an endorsement or a referral. Great real estate professionals will flourish with this feature and are sure to grow their business. It is also a great way to differentiate yourself from your competition. If potential clients see a lot of reviews on your professional Zillow profile they will have greater trust and recognition with your brand.

There are three easy ways. First, sign into your Zillow account, go to your profile and select “Request a review.” This will open up our review request tool which will allow you to send requests for reviews and keep track of these requests. A form will appear where you can ask for reviews three ways:

  1. Email individual clients with a link to a review form on Zillow. To streamline this process, you can pre-populate the form with the address of the home you worked on.
  2. Email multiple clients using one general form (up to 50 email addresses allowed per day). Each of your clients will get an email from you, with a link to the review request form.
  3. Send a client a direct link to your review form. Cut and paste the URL that goes directly to a review form for you.
Past or present clients can also find you organically in our directory by searching for you by company name or first and last name. There is a “Write a Review” link on your profile that clients can click on to submit a review for you.

It is important to note that a consumer will be prompted to register for a Zillow account after they submit a review for you if they are not already signed into one. A submitted review is not sent to our moderation team if the client does not sign in or register for a Zillow account.

You have that choice. Only real estate professionals with Zillow profiles can be rated and reviewed, so if you don't want to be reviewed, you can remove your Zillow profile. This will remove all reviews and your presence from Zillow. For lenders who quote on Zillow Group, this will also remove any prior loan quotes. We highly encourage you to allow reviews and ratings of your service so potential clients can learn about you, which could lead to more business.

Reviewers can enter remarks about a real estate professional in a free-form review box. Reviewers can also rate real estate pros on several criteria. Ratings run on a scale of 1 to 5, indicating how likely a consumer is to recommend a real estate pro with 5 "very likely" and 1 "very unlikely." A pro's overall rating is then calculated. The ratings and reviews appear on the professional's profile.

Only clients who have communicated or worked with a real estate pro can write a review and submit a rating on that pro. Reviewers must register and create a profile on Zillow, then indicate the service the professional provided by selecting from a number of options like "closed a purchase loan" or "helped me buy a home."

Absolutely. A dedicated team of specially trained moderators evaluate all reviews before they are published. Reviews must adhere to Zillow’s Good Neighbor Policy and Review Guidelines, which means all contributed content must be respectful and appropriate. Content that we feel is inappropriate, off-topic, or not useful will not be published.

Once a consumer submits a review for you, it can take up to 7 business days to moderate a review. However, moderation time can be longer if our moderation team has questions or concerns for the reviewer or if the review does not mean our guidelines and is rejected.

Yes, as soon as a review is published on Zillow, you will receive an email notification. You then have the option to respond to the review, if you want. The email will also include links to Facebook and Twitter so you can share your review.

When you receive an email notifying you of a review, you can see the username and profile of the person who has reviewed you, and information about the property.

Reviews cannot be individually deleted; however, real estate pros have the opportunity to respond to any review published. If you feel a review does not meet our review guidelines or any of our other applicable policies, the review can be flagged for re-moderation. At any time, pros can opt out of being rated by deleting their Zillow profile. This will remove all reviews and presence from Zillow including loan quotes on Zillow Group.

Pros can respond publicly on the site to any review they receive. Additionally, reviews can be flagged for Zillow to re-moderate.

After you flag a review it is re-moderated by our customer service team, who may then contact you and/or the reviewer for more information.
