Engagement & belonging

Employee resource groups

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) at Zillow support our commitment to creating an equitable workplace for all. These employee-led groups create spaces to share common interests, build trust, and develop relationships, while also creating leadership and professional development opportunities for members. They are open to any employee who supports the group’s initiatives, whether as a self-identified member or an ally.

We support the causes you care about

Donation matching

Zillow provides resources and incentives to support and encourage employees to give back in their communities. We continue to offer a donation-matching program, which matches any employee donation of up to $500 per year to qualifying nonprofit organizations. In 2023, employees donated a total of $295,140 to support nonprofits that meant the most to them. We also launched Z4G Community Grants, enabling employees to nominate 10 nonprofits to receive $10,000 grants each.

Volunteer time off

We offer employees an annual benefit of eight hours of volunteer time off (VTO) and a dollars-for-doers program for those who would prefer to donate their time to support causes important to them and their communities. In 2023, employees volunteered 4,030 hours in support of local nonprofit organizations. In addition to these volunteer hours, we sponsored 24 employee-led giving and volunteering campaigns throughout the year, with joint support from the Social Impact and Engagement & Belonging teams.

Our mission to get more and more people home

We believe housing is the foundation that enables people to thrive, contributing to financial and social stability for individuals, families and communities. Yet many people encounter barriers at every turn, whether they are renting, buying or getting a mortgage. While some progress has been made since the Fair Housing Act of 1968, the lasting impact of discriminatory policies continues to create obstacles to homeownership for people of color, including Black, Latine, Indigenous and other communities.

Our aim is to promote economic opportunity through a healthier housing market that’s fair, affordable, accessible and secure. Zillow engages in industry-leading economic research, public policy advocacy and product development that helps make home a reality for more people. We also engage our employees through giving and volunteering, to deliver impactful outcomes to more people.

2023 Engagement & Belonging annual report

Reimagining an industry historically rife with racism and inequality challenges us to first do the work within our own walls, so that we can take this important work out to our communities and to everyone our business touches.

Partnerships

At Zillow, we partner with organizations that are committed to providing resources and opportunities to communities that represent a growing number of our customers and partners, but have been historically marginalized in tech. We believe in driving meaningful change through intentional partnerships. We listen to, walk alongside and provide financial support to partners in our communities whose work aligns with our social impact mission to increase housing security, economic opportunity and equitable industry.
