In 2020, we were among the first companies to announce that employees could work from home indefinitely. Then, while other companies debated what to do once the pandemic eases, we saw an opportunity to permanently redefine the future of flexible work. We decided to operate Zillow as a cloud-headquartered company and set the standard for what a post-pandemic workplace culture looks like.
Today, the majority of Zillow employees have the flexibility to work wherever they are most productive: the office, home or a combination of the two.
Our shift to a distributed workforce has enabled permanent location flexibility for many Zillow employees. Our job openings have been designated as remote, hybrid, office or field.
73% remote
15% hybrid
10% field
2% office
600 employees abroad
By joining our Talent Network, you’ll have the option to receive monthly newsletters packed with company updates, early access to events, recruiting tips, and employee stories on why they chose to call Zillow home. Additionally, your profile will be visible to our recruiting teams, giving you greater potential of finding a role that is a fit for you.

Since many of our roles are no longer defined by location, a flexible workforce has expanded career opportunities for our employees. This internal mobility presents opportunities for career growth through movement across teams and different areas of the business. At Zillow, we believe each employee should have the tools and support they need to be learning and growing their careers, no matter where they work from.

To empower and develop our flexible workforce, we have a virtual first training strategy, with most of our trainings offered virtually through our internal learning portal, Zillow University, and virtual instructor-led courses. All employees are also given access to LinkedIn Learning, opening the door to a great deal of current content and expert-led courses, which provide employees with the opportunity to build skills in a wide array of areas. We also have Pluralsight and DataCamp skill-building platforms for our tech and data teams.
We believe employees should be paid based on their experience, not on their location. We do not adjust compensation if employees choose to live outside major metro areas. Instead, we have a national pay structure that recognizes performance and maintains pay equity within our flexible work structure.
