Completed in 1965 to supply water to North Texas, it spans 18 miles long with over 220 miles of shoreline.Key Activities & RecreationFishing: The reservoir is well known for largemouth bass, blue catfish, and hybrid striped bass.Boating: The lake is one of the few in the region that allows private boathouses and waterfront property ownership. Gun Barrel City hosts an annual July 4th Festival & Concert at the Park. The spectacular Thunder Over Cedar Creek Lake Airshow takes place over the reservoir during the Fourth of July weekend.
