    What's special

This apartment, which is available 8/1/17, is a LARGE and BEAUTIFUL 3-BEDROOM, 2-LEVEL apartment located in a large Pre-Civil War, circa 1840, three-story brick building! There are many interesting and beautiful architectural features throughout this unit. The square footage is 1,665ft. The view from the front rooms of the apartment are wonderful -- one sees the front of the beautiful, new Union Transfer musical venue (where The Spaghetti Warehouse had been located), behind which is seen the Philadelphia skyline. There is a large, airy and bright "great room" which contains the living room, dining area and kitchen -- complete with a "chef's island", a dishwasher, a gas stove/oven, and oak cabinets. This room has many of the beautiful architectural features, which makes being in this space a pleasure - including a beautiful plaster ceiling medallion over the living room area. Two of the bedrooms are of an average size, while the third bedroom is very large. The bathroom is also quite spacious and contains both an old-fashioned claw-foot bathtub and a separate futuristic-style shower. There is also a linen closet in the bathroom. All the floors in the apartment are hardwood. There is an extra space, which also includes a clothes washer and dryer. There is an attic suitable for storage. The apartment is heated by gas-fueled, water-filled radiators, which is the most comfortable type of heating system. This apartment is centrally located in an up and coming neighborhood that goes north from Spring Garden Street between Northern Liberties and Fairmount. The building is on Spring Garden Street and is quite convenient to Center City (just 5 blocks north of City Hall), and most cultural and historic landmarks. It is within easy walking distance to Chinatown and the Reading Terminal Market, and is convenient to numerous restaurants and theaters. Local institutions include: The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, Hahnemann Hospital, Thomas Jefferson Hospital, Temple University (undergrad, Tyler School of Art, medical, dental, and legal schools), Drexel University (undergrad and College of Medicine), the University of Pennsylvania (undergrad, Wharton School of Business, as well as their legal and medical schools), Community College of Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia University, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the University of the Arts, Moore College of Art. There is easy access to public transportation. The #23 Bus line runs south to South Philadelphia, via center city, on 12th Street; and north, passing Temple University and beyond to Chestnut Hill, on 11th Street. Or, take the very short 3-block walk to the Broad Street Subway. There are also buses running along the very nearby streets of Spring Garden Street, Ridge Avenue and Broad Street. It is only a 10-minute bike ride to Temple University, Rittenhouse Square, The Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Old City section; about a 7-minute bike ride to Thomas Jefferson Hospital, The Academy of Fine Arts, Hahnemann Hospital, and City Hall - the center of the downtown area; and a short walk or 5-minute, (or less), bike ride to the Reading Terminal Market and Chinatown. It is a 10-minute walk to Philadelphia Community College. Although it is a further distance, it is considered convenient to Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania, both in West Philadelphia, which is about a 12-minute drive. This large three-bedroom apartment, shall be AVAILABLE for occupancy, for an 8/1/17 move-in. There is a minimum of a one-year's lease and the monthly rent is $1,775, plus all utilities and services.
