'Dry Bridge' as listed in Old Homes of Hanover County pg.77, was originally the overseer's cottage on Samuel Martin Baker's nearby farm. Mr. Baker farmed and ran a store in the house. There was a counter in the front hall. Dry Bridge extends from Old Ridge Road to the South Anna River. At the river one can see the brick foundations of the bridge spanning the river which the Northern troops burned. There was much fighting at this point and earth fortifications are still clearly visible. You'll discover an opportunity to restore a little piece of historic Hanover. Not for the faint of heart, while we believe the overall structure is sound, we did just loose about a 200 yr. old oak tree which struck the left wing corner-just another part of the restoration project.
