The area was originally known as Riversville, an antebellum village founded in 1851 by Constant H. Rivers, later renamed Secessionville in 1861. Today, it's a peaceful, tucked-away enclave that feels worlds apart, yet remains close to the restaurants, beaches, and conveniences of Charleston.
