MICHIGAN LAKE SUPERIOR WATERFRONT HOME-CABIN FOR SALE! This property is located in Baraga County's L'Anse Township, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It is on the eastern side of a mushroom shaped landform that is located on the western side of the 12.3 mile-long Point Abbaye Peninsula which juts out into Lake Superior. This boreal ecosystem is bounded by the Keweenaw Bay on the west and the Huron Bay on the east. This home is in a 4-Season recreational area. This property is within walking distance of Second Sand Beach Park, which is one of the most beautiful sugar sand beaches in the area. A great place to build sand castles, and beach comb. The water there is crystal clear, and perfect for wading and swimming. Tubing, water skiing, and canoeing is also popular on this bay. To the south of the property is a large parcel of State of Michigan Land that is a marsh (flooded grassland). This marsh provides a crucial breeding and feeding habitat for water birds and mammals. Ducks, Marsh wrens, Coots, Biterns, Eagles, Owls, Hawks, and Herons can be sighted here. A mile+ to the south-west of this property is access to Lake Superior fishing from the Pequaming Marina. Fishing opportunities in this area include Coho and King salmon, Lake and Brown trout, Steelheads, Walleyes, Perch, Pike, and Smallmouth bass. Also nearby is the historic Henry Ford Village of Pequaming. Now a ghost town, some buildings are still in existence today include the water tower, the company store, Henry Ford's summer home and guest house (called The Bungalow), several houses, and the ruins of the sawmill powerhouse. About 12 miles away at the northern end of Point Abbaye Peninsula are Copper Country State Forest lands and the County of Baraga has a beautiful park located at the rugged, rocky tip. It takes about a half-hour drive over the twisty road to get there, but the view from the rugged sandstone shelf there is worth the drive! There are hiking trails, two outhouses, and a small campground for overnight camping. You might be able to see The Huron Island Light flashing from the rocky freshwater archipelago located about seven miles beyond the end of the peninsula. These islands are named the Huron Islands in honor of the Hurons who once lived in the area - and are a national wildlife area. Another local pass time here is nature photography, and you'll have opportunities for that here year round! Whitetail deer, Black bear, Coyote, and Bald eagle sightings are common. The private 10+ Acre parcel is wooded and has 259+/- feet of "Walk Out" frontage on protected "Sand Bay". You can swim, wade, and launch your canoes or sea-kayaks right from the shoreline of this beautiful property! The 4BR three-level chalet style home features a large wrap-around deck and upper level balconies. The large main floor Living/Gathering Room has beautiful water views from windows and a French Door leading to the deck, shimmering oak wood floors, custom display shelving, and a wood-burning fireplace with stone-slate facia and built-in bookcases. The kitchen has fine quality cabinetry, slate flooring, and stainless steel appliances. The Dining Area also features oak floors, and custom wood trims. The home sleeps 10 comfortably. A large second floor Main Bedroom Suite and Sitting Area with fireplace, Sleeping Area, and Private Full Bath face the waterside of the home. On this floor is a Second Bedroom, and a large Full Bath. On the upper level is a 7x13 Landing Area/Family Room, and 13x36 Sleeping area with built in Bunks, a Fireplace and Recreation area. The fourth Bedroom, and a Full Bath shares this floor. There is plenty of living space for a large family or gathering of friends! The lowest level is heated with two wall hung space heaters and provides space for parking two vehicles and there is abundant storage for your recreational toys. The 22x24 pavilion provides a screened-in entertainment area near the shoreline.
