Stonecourt is more than a house, it is a true home filled with a collection of memories of a historical and unique past. The oldest part of the house is the cape built in the 1820's. The kitchen was once the stone fireplace now in the living room. The Harrison Historical Society believes that the original owners had 12 children that all slept in the loft overhead. Over the years the cape was added on to including the large family style kitchen and the extended carriage houses were converted to two bedrooms downstairs. The former master bedroom is now a library with the large master bedroom currently upstairs complete with a clawfoot bathtub. In the 1920's the home became Stonecourt Resort with cabins in the woods designed to house the actors appearing at the nearby summer theater, Deertrees. Tallulah Bankhead and Vivian Vance are rumored to have stayed in the converted lodge with it's hard wood floor in the great room and huge field stone fireplace. Once featured in Yankee magazine, this lodge has been used over the years as a retreat, a sauna, a bed and breakfast, a counseling center and for many family gatherings and pool parties. The high ceiling is the perfect place for a giant Christmas Tree. If the granite stones embedded around this old home could talk they would speak of love and laughter filling the old wooden walls of Stonecourt. Acreage being conveyed is 4 acres +/-, survey still needs to be completed.
