The area is a quiet location with some unpaved roads (Varville) others like Stillman village rd. are paved. The area is in a low crime area with mostly single family houses, rural wooded lots with plenty of wildlife to see. Summer temps range about -5 to -10 degrees cooler than neighboring cities. Great location for the out of doors experiences with Grafton Lakes State park 3-4 miles away. Many ponds and streams to fish some are excellent trout streams. Cherryplain lake state park is 16 miles away with overnight camping. Skiing is available at Jiminy Peak about 25 miles away. Local country /rural atmosphere with county stores and local restaurants. Other activities for adventure can be found at both the Dyken pond center in Grafton and at the Shaver pond environmental center also in Grafton. Bennington Vermont is 15 miles away to the Northeast and Williamstown Mass is 20 miles east of Petersburgh both towns have excellent restaurants and adult activities like the Williamstown theater company. Bed and Breakfasts abound in all the towns surrounding Petersburgh for out of town guests to stay when visiting. Tangelwood and the Chatam play house are within a 45 minute drive. The city of troy is 22 miles to the West and the city of Albany is 35 miles to the west. Quiet get away from it all living is the foundation of our community
