Wendell is small and peaceful town but it offers a wide variety of recreational activities for outdoors enthusiasts, from town-owned forest and conservation lands to state-owned and maintained forests and wildlife management areas. Hiking trails, bird watching and fishing are just part of the activities to discover. There is a library, post office and a general store in town. The nearby town of South Deerfield is just a short 20 minutes ride away and you can visit the Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory and Gardens, and Mount Sugarloaf State Reservation or take a tour around the Berkshire Brewing Company. A picturesque 30 minutes drive will take you to Amherst where you can visit the Emily Dickinson Museum, take a stroll in Puffer Pond and shop at the Farmers Market. We are also very close to the Five College Consortium comprising of Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
