The Hunters Woods shopping plaza is a 10 minute walk through the wooded area. It has a grocery store, several restaurants, and the Reston Community Center (many activities and performances). There are 15 beautiful pools in Reston, and for a nominal yearly fee ($5 each family member), they are one of the best services Reston offers. There are several good shopping and dining areas in Reston, all within a 10 minute drive (low traffic times) of the neighborhood. The largest shopping area is Reston Town Center, and it is two miles from Saddler Oaks. There is also a very nice farmers market every Saturday in Reston, May through November. The neighborhood is safe, and neighbors look out for one another.
