Fully Furnished Coastal Retreat with Ocean Views on a Quiet Maine Island — Near Acadia & Bar Harbor no restrictions on short term rentals like Airbnb & VRBO, or running a small business. Nestled just off the coast of Maine near Acadia National Park and minutes from Bar Harbor, this charming three-story cedar-shingled home offers an unparalleled island lifestyle with sweeping ocean views, coastal ambiance, and modern comforts in a rustic setting. Built in 1982, this 2-bedroom, 2-bath home sits on a grassy lot with meandering stone paths, directly across the street from ocean access and the peaceful Mill Pond. The third-floor primary suite spans the entire level, featuring a private bath with shower, and stunning views of the Atlantic, Mill Pond, Burnt Coat Harbor, and the iconic Burnt Coat Harbor Lighthouse — all visible from the comfort of your bed. The main level includes a second bedroom, a full bath, a living room with ocean views, and an open dining/kitchen area that opens to a porch perfectly positioned for the morning sun. Watch lobster boats go by and seabirds wheel through the sky while enjoying your coffee. The walk-out lower level offers several finished rooms ideal for guest quarters, a home office, studio, or additional sleeping areas. Enjoy the sounds of the ocean, gently rocking buoys, and calls of seabirds—your daily soundtrack on the island. Located just 6 miles by ferry or boat from Bass Harbor, this island community is serene yet connected. Across the street, the Mill Pond Health Center provides a range of services including primary care, dental, podiatry, and telemedicine programs—plus weekly community blood draws and wellness events. High-speed fiber internet makes remote work seamless. The home features wood floors, Andersen windows, and a tasteful, slightly rustic finish that fits the island’s natural charm. A nearby park with a playground and small boat launch adds to the lifestyle appeal. Surrounded by hardworking lobstermen and fresh-caught seafood, this is not just a home—it's a retreat into one of Maine’s last hidden treasures.
What the owner loves about this home
I love the peaceful feeling of being surrounded by ocean on all sides—it’s like the rest of the world fades away. The island has a deep sense of community; people wave, know your name, and even the island store feels like home—they’ll keep your credit card on file so you don’t have to bring a thing. There are miles of private hiking trails through spruce woods and along the shoreline. I ride my mountain e-bike over them (even though the granite drops and boulders make it a real challenge!). The ocean views are absolutely stunning—and best of all, they’re private. You can hike for hours, watch the waves, and rarely see another soul. Wildlife is everywhere—deer, sea birds, and in the summer, the island comes alive with wild blueberries and raspberries. In spring, you can forage fiddleheads. One of my favorite things is walking across the street and launching my kayak right into the ocean. The local K-8 school is small but exceptional, with a high teacher-to-student ratio that gives kids a truly personalized education. Living here is more than just peaceful—it’s deeply connected, to nature, to neighbors, and to a slower, more meaningful pace of life.
