The Douglas Preserve is just a few blocks away, offering great walking trails that will lead you down to Arroyo Burro Beach (known at Hendry's Beach). There are some great restaurants on the sand, offering breakfast, (locals favorite) lunch and dinner. This is a great spot to watch the sunsets. Rental bikes are available at many dock stations throughout Santa Barbara.
