Our beautiful home is a 1931 stucco cottage with red-tile roof, exposed beams, and wood windows. Its front door opens onto Rose Walk, a pedestrian walkway designed by Bernard Maybeck (and a Berkeley landmark). Downstairs there is a large living room with a grand piano, fireplace and vaulted ceiling, a dining room that opens onto a terrace, a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast nook, a half bathroom, and a family room or office space that opens up onto a large back patio. Upstairs there are three bedroom and two bathrooms. The garden is beautiful, with lemons, rosemary, and flowers in bloom at almost any time of year. It's a 15 minute walk (or 5 minute bus ride) to the UC Berkeley campus and North Berkeley restaurants and shopping, and just a little farther to downtown Berkeley and the Berkeley BART station (with convenient access to San Francisco). Codornices Park and the Berkeley Rose Garden are just two blocks away in this wonderful neighborhood. We would like to rent the house furnished, for approximately the same period we will be away on sabbatical, August 2025-July 2026. We will need to move back in at the beginning of August 2026. Owner pays for water, high-speed internet, VOIP phone, garbage pickup, and alarm system. Renter pays for gas and electric. No smoking in the house. This is a fixed term lease (one year); owners will move back in at the end.
