Laughing Bear Cabin is a picture-perfect historic log cabin nestled in the forests of the Cascade Mountains. It is ready for your cozy weekend getaway in the heart of Mt Hood's year-round recreation area.Laughing Bear Log Cabin was built in 1930 by the Steiner brothers who also worked on Timberline Lodge. In all, they are reported to have built some 80 cabins in the Mt Hood area. One of their signature design features is the Horizon Star or Sundial design that can be found in the eave of the front porch. They were also well known for their engineering skills and in particular, their use of bent wood found in nature on the mountain and the extended eaves on their cabins.At the cabin, you will find a wonderfully carved Laughing Bear created by Mike Schmidt of Alder Creek Gallery.On the back porch you will find a barbeque for your use, and a deck with a Hot Tub with jets. The spacious living room/dining room area is cozy and a perfect place for relaxing by the fireplace.Laughing Bear Log Cabin is a 1,300 sq. ft. post and beam Steiner Log Cabin and has three bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. It can accommodate up to 10 people. It is fully furnished for your comforts and conveniences (including all kitchen, bed, bath and linens.) There is a washer and dryer for your personal clothing.Sleeping accommodations can be found in the master bedroom on the first floor, and two generously sized upstairs areas. Each of the upstairs sleeping areas has a vanity with a sink, one double bed, one single bed, chairs for sitting, and dressers that contain extra linens.As a vacation home it is typically rented from 2 nights to a few weeks at a time. Occasionally longer. 7% Room Tax is applied, plus a cleaning fee. Total rates vary depending on date's, number of people, and Holiday's.
