The Western Way community is a 55 and older community set in the Tucson Mountains, 15 miles from the cities’ medical care and shopping. Yet, it is just five minutes, nearly adjoining Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park West, offering some 40,000 acres of recreational activity: miles of hiking, horseback, and mountain biking trails, photography, history and nature programs, more remote camping. The Desert Museum (an outside zoo and Arboretum combined and a place to volunteer), Old Tucson Photography studios are contained within. Social activities abound at Western Way ranging from seasonal theme dinners, craft shows, competitive activities such as Pickle Ball, swimming, music from local artists and many other activities that can keep a person healthy and connected. Yet, the park is not so large you cannot get to meet everybody. A good social activity is simply walking the safe, paved roads and talking to other residents also enjoying warm Arizona sunshine.
