The 101 Acre Ranch with 2 nice Solitaire mobiles (3 bed/2 bath each). One is 16’ x 76’ and the other is 18’ x 80’ with a 2-car detached garage. We built the 35’ x 60’ insulated shop with concrete floor with a 15’ x 60’ attached equipment shed overhang. We added the 36 x 48 horse/cattle barn and included the full length covered loafing shed on the east of the barn. We built the 24 x 24 weanling barn and included the 8 foot loafing sheds on the east and west sides for shade and protection from the weather for the babies. We added the 8 x 16 chicken coop that has dual sides for chickens or as we used for feed and chicken needs. The Prefert run was built with extra foundation and cover for protection from owls and other predators. The covered egg gathering space makes it so nice in inclement weather. There are two storage buildings and 2 nice storage containers. We added a 14 person in ground storm shelter that has never leaked, PLUS we added a walk-in shelter in the 2-car garage for ease in an emergency. There are several hay meadows that have been hayed for 25 years. They are cleared and produce 200 round bales of Bermuda/prairie hay. There are approximately 140 pecan trees than can be harvested if desired. The ponds are stocked with large bass and crappie, and neither of the ponds have ever dried up. There are deer and turkey galore as well as native plum thickets and a small orchard. What we have loved about owning the ranch: This was our working cattle ranch for the past 25 years. We raised 35 mama cows plus their calves and each spring sold the calves. We had fresh eggs each day and enough to sell to our neighbors. We raised a herd of 30 goats + their babies which we also sold twice a year. By the way, goats have twins each time and they are precious to watch children with the babies. We had a couple of horses in our younger years with an abundance of space to ride and explore the ranch. We fished the ponds and caught 6 & 7 pound large mouth bass for fish fries for gatherings. We hosted Sunday School parties and family gatherings with fishing and cook outs. We had cash crops yearly of around 200 round bales of hay, a vegetable garden from time to time and pecan harvests when plentiful. We always loved the different seasons on the ranch and just the serenity of the land. With the ability to raise cattle for our freezer…to feed a calf out without growth hormones and antibiotics. At times we fed out two or even three calves. One for our own freezer and one for family or to sell. We loved to spot huge 14 point bucks. We no longer hunt so they have grown quite plentiful. Large does and their fawns wander our front acres with ease. We watched flocks of 20+ large turkeys in the front yard! All of these things we enjoyed in our time. We planted our small orchard and stocked our ponds with bass and crappie. The property’s OUTSTANDING WELL (for both quality AND quantity) and large septic tanks have served us perfectly throughout our years of running the ranch. We now retire and downsize with fond memories of our Rugged Cross Ranch. Please phone us if you would like to get together and discuss purchasing the ranch for your own family.
