Originally built as a one-story log cabin at the conclusion of the War of 1812, this house has been in my family from the beginning. The second story was added just prior to the Civil War. The last major structural remodeling was in 1910 when the kitchen was added. On the second story, the original logs can be seen. Several 19th century outbuildings remain, along with a modern storage shed that can serve as a workshop or studio.
