Further, upon commencement of construction, it was discovered that the home site was comprised largely of stone bedrock. This presented additional construction requirements but yielded the most solid foundation and plenty of boulders for use when landscaping. Building upon the motif of a mountain home in the city, it was decided to drill a well to take advantage of the fresh clean water source from the veining in the rock layering deep below the water table. This private water supply eliminates the hazards and inconsistencies (and the costs) of municipal water and is supported by simple, yet state-of-the-art technology. It was these very challenges that energized the design/build team to craft a home that takes full advantage of and constantly engages with the site.
