Different venders used by Meritage are not dependable, “we’ll do that”, “I’ll get back to you”… promises made but not kept. It started with builders rep that did walk through. Nothing done on our blue tape walk thru. HVAC has been a major problem. Front bedrooms were 75-78 degrees w/ unit set at 69-70. Took 2 wks to get techs out. They reset zones which helped but needed to come back to replace a box on the unit in attic. One wk went by- no call about when they were coming back. I called them, they set an appt, rescheduled a wk later, they rescheduled several days out, then they didn’t come during that 10-12 window. I called at 1p “oh, he is running late”… no courtesy call to inform me. Tech finally came. Said the unit in attack was wired wrong… imagine that, whoever installed our unit wired two things wrong… that’s reassuring/not. Now, I need to call again because the unit turns on and off every 3-5 min. Which by the way when the unit turns on it sounds like a train off in the distance….

Our overall experience up until move in was really great - minus the crew removing tape from several places after our final walkthrough and not actually fixing the giant holes. Once we moved in we found several areas, even in our major appliances that it was clear there wasn’t an attention to detail. Our HVAC was missing an entire piece that caused water dripping, we literally don’t have a mail box and the HOA is unresponsive to it, our fridge doesn’t dispense water and I’ve called Meritage customer care several times to set up my warranty account with no call back. It’s clear Meritage only wants to get you in the home and doesn’t care about anything after. We love our home but have been very disappointed with treatment.
