The architect named it The Castle. His promo highlights that "to push the design envelope, the castle marries medieval and modern." He built it to showcase what he might do to build the rest of the houses in the small association it is part of (nine houses, located less than 1 mile from downtown Brighton). Because of this "showcasing" idea, it has numerous unique touches. Arches are replaced by turrets; boxes by octagon-shaped rooms. It is a spectacular & unique home with over 5200 sq ft of living space including 4-5 bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths, 1st floor master with large bathroom that has a Jacuzzi, & finished low level w/ wet bar, wine cellar, media room or exercise room or 5th bdrm & entertainment area, 2 gas fireplaces, one with stones going up some 18 ft. to the high ceiling, the other with a huge mirror above it. Main level floors are mostly oak (master bedroom and reception room have carpeting), and the 2nd floor has an open hallway/balcony overlooking the first. "All" stone and brick exterior with professional landscaping, 2 decks, 70 yr textured shingles, bridge over fish pond w/ wrought iron rails, fountain (could have 2), and small waterfall. The idea here is to have the suggestion of a castle's drawbridge/moot into the front entrance. And the deck above it is meant to suggest the balcony where the "king and queen" would stand to look down upon their subjects. In actuality, the deck is large enough for an outdoor table with two chairs and a nice view over the front yard and street that leads into the association which has large blue spruce lining it's opposite side. Though a public street (so the city has to keep it plowed, etc.), it is a dead end used only by association members, and thus not a busy street.
