    What's special

A Gracious Center Hall Colonial on a one half acre park like setting on the most desirable street in Millburn. Set on one of the highest elevations in Millburn, views of NYC can be seen from the front of the house. The house features five bedrooms, three and one half bathrooms and hardwood floors throughout. Additional features include a finished basement/ media room, wine cellar with storage room for over 1,000 bottles and a four car heated garage. Additionally, there are two wood burning fireplaces that have been converted to gas for your convenience. A major renovation was completed over a two year period ending in 2002 when the kitchen, family room, nanny/guest room, powder room, front porch and garage were redone. No expense was spared. Cherry beams from an 1850’s New York State barn were cut down to create the rustic floors. One of the uncut beams was used to create the mantle for the fireplace. Quarter sawn oak was sent to a furniture refinisher for ammonia fuming to create the authentic Arts and Crafts feel for the den. The stained glass window was custom made as an exact replica of a Frank Lloyd Wright window for the custom pocket door. The kitchen includes all top appliances. Sub-Zero refrigeration, six burner Viking stove and Meile dishwasher. The main sink was custom made of Pietra Stone, an Italian stone that was also used for the kitchen island. There is a sliding glass door to the slate patio that is surrounded by terraced gardens carved from the hillside. All of the stone used in the terracing was hand-picked from the property to create a natural look as the property backs up to South Mountain Reservation, a 2,000 acre park designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the designer of Central Park in NYC. The large living room with fireplace has French doors that separate it from the dining room and the screened porch. The living room is also wired with in-wall stereo speakers. The screened porch and patio are also wired for stereo and are wonderful spots to spend a summer evening of alfresco dining. Without the music, you can listen to the soft, soothing sound of the waterfall built in the center of the terraced gardens. Upstairs there are four large bedrooms with ample closets. The bedroom which might have served as a nursery has been modified for use as a home gym. All of the upstairs bathrooms have been upgraded.
