    What's special

    A classic home built in late 1800s or early 1900s. Recently occupied by portrait artist Gardner Cox, whose legacy is apparent in various portions of the house. The home is period authentic, has not been 'modernized', although the clapboards on much of the main house have been replaced with shingles for easier maintenance. The majority of the main house has oil heat with three zones. (Motor to be replaced this summer). Appears to be structurally sound but needs cosmetic work and exterior carpentry. The property includes an updated 'Fish House', a self-contained cottage, the large deck with recent superior underpinning renovations, basically sits over the waters of Bear Cove. (No damage from recent storms). Great rental history. The Fish House is seasonal, with large fireplace. Watch the vessel traffic from either structure, the main house or the 'Fish House', which contains one bedroom on the second floor. The deck facing the Thoroughfare on the main house faces south, and features cooling breezes most of the summer. Tidal shorefront directly in front of the property on Bear Cove is swimmable three hours each side of high tide.Though close to the center of town, Ames Point Road is a dead end that offers privacy and views along its length. Neither of the structures are visible from the road. A truly fine example of a period home with the advantage of a seasonal guest cottage.
