Our home is in a very stable, friendly neighborhood. After Hurricane Wilma destroyed the pool enclosure, we added a more substantial enclosure in February, 2006. The kitchen was completed remodeled in 2005-2006 with all new applicances and granite countertops. The living room, dining room, and two bedrooms on the south side of the house have wooden floors. In 2012 the master bath was redone with new walk-in shower, new counter and counter top and senior toilet. In 2012-13 all of the windows were replaced with hurricane resistant windows and the door to the garage was replaced with a hurricane resistant door. The main garage entry door was replaced a few years ago with a hurricane resistant door. In the attic, the old straps attaching the roof to the house have been replaced with new single straps that meet the new insurance code permitting a reduction in premium. In 2014, we replaced the original front door and side light with 2 solid mahogany doors that are hurricane resistant. In January 2015, we replaced the cement driveway and entryway with paver. The entryway to the front door is sloped so there are no steps into the home making it handicapped accessible. In 2016 we replaced the carpet in the three bedrooms on the north side with laminate wood flooring. In 2019, we had added a large generator outside that will power the home if there is a loss of power. We also replaced the electric water heater with a tankless gas water heater. In March, 2023, the aging water/sewer pipes were rusting so we had all the pipes relined with a plastic substance that became strong like PVC. We added landscaping elements to the north and east sides of the property in 2022. The mahogany front doors were refinished in April, 2023. Neighborhood Description The neighborhood was first settled in1967- 68 by engineers and other professionals connected with the new IBM plant. Doctors and other medical professionals moved in about the same time when the new community hospital was built. We are close to all services, and Florida Atlantic University is about a mile away offering adult education courses in additional to typical university services. We are close to the beaches and the Atlantic Ocean.
