This artist's cottage is a nature-lover's retreat in downtown Raleigh. Inside the house, original hardwood floors were carefully restored with Scandinavian natural finish. Outdoors, you'll find a magical, natural yard. There's an apple tree, edible flowers, organic herb garden, fig tree, blossoming jasmine, and the rarest of finds: beautiful barred owls (northern hooting owls) living and nesting in the oak tree. Their early-evening call is known to sound like they're asking, "Who, who, who cooks for you?" It's truly surprising this cottage is so close to downtown. A stream running through the back yard is bordered by the "Nice Fox" natural area, to commemorate a nice fox who used to frequent the stream, and for whom the song "Nice Fox" was written. Above the stream is another private grassy area, perfect for relaxation or meditation. *In spring, the adorable and curious owlets stand on the edge of their nest, and are magical to observe from the back deck. Unfurnished cottage, renter is responsible for all utilities and landscaping. First and last month due at signing, plus security deposit. Small pets considered.
