Pueblo Adobe Passive Solar house design and built in 1976 by Karen Terry, a leader in solar design and construction during the 1970's and early 1980's. Known in the architectural world as the "Sun Cave". It is constructed of traditional adobe brick with interior thick adobe walls and brick/stone floors for thermal mass. Additionnally, to permit it to blend with the landscape, earth and native grasses have been placeed on the sloping membrane roof. This unique home sits on over 5 acres of land with hundreds of mature trees such as Piñons, Junipers and Ponderosas. Exterior: drive/parking area, hand built stone retaining walls enclosing 1 acre of property around the house with several wrought iron gates/windows and wood doors/windows throughout the wall, terraced irrigated garden areas, flagstone walk and large patio, 3 brick patios, covered entry portal, roof deck, septic system.
