    What's special

For more than a century, this stone and shingle Colonial Revival mansion has graced the streetscape in one of Morristown's most esteemed and attractive residential enclaves. Built between 1899 and 1901 by Henry Kirk Morgan, Jr. of the Morgan Bank fame, this landmark property has been owned and occupied by only four families in its 111 year existence. With the eye of a curator and a deep appreciation for the architectural achievements of a bygone era, the current homeowners completed a restoration of this historic gem that is nothing short of remarkable. Original wood shutters adorn the exterior facade which underwent a complete facelift by replacing the old siding with cedar wood shingles. New windows, porch railings and balustrades have been replicated to designs found in old photographs. Throughout the five finished floors, the architectural details have been cherished and salvaged resulting in wood floors that gleam, pocket doors that glide, hardware that sparkles, and intricate millwork that has been painted and preserved for the next generation. A broad covered porch leads to a massive Dutch door crafted from mahogany and framed with ornate sidelights. The first floor features a long, wide center hall with high ceilings and extraordinary millwork. Midway down the hall, Corinthian columns support a keystone archway that frames a sweeping staircase and a Palladian window on the landing to the second floor. Solid mahogany pocket doors give access to the front parlor, music room, living room, and dining room--each with a wood-burning fireplace. Large windows above a long window seat, coffered ceiling, wainscoted walls and a glass-door china cabinet grace the dining room, while carved corner bookshelves with open shelves and leaded glass cabinets balance the mahogany beamed ceiling and fireplace mantel in the living room. A former screened porch off the parlor is now a finished family room with a radiant heated floor. Today's kitchen offers custom cherry cabinetry,
