Thanks to the recent hailstorm, this property has received a SIXTY-THOUSAND-DOLLAR makeover! Brand new roofs on the house and both barns. New roof vents. New skylights. New garage door. New screens. New chimney flue caps. This home was under contract in less than two weeks from the time it was originally listed, but is back on the market due to the buyers being unable to close on their home. Only once in a great while does a property like this come on the market. Priced well below homes in the area with less to offer! You can always refinance when the interest rates fall. But you can't always find an all-brick home on 7.5 private acres under 10 miles from Springfield! There is just OINE four-way stop between you and town. Easy access to 65 and 13 without the noise and congestion. This home has it all! The large family room has a fireplace with insert for cozy family gatherings. You'll find another fireplace in the formal living room which opens up to the formal dining area. The kitchen is a chef's dream with two counter spaces and two sinks. Whether you host extended family or friends there's plenty of space for all. There are two bedrooms and two full baths on the main level and an extra-large bedroom upstairs. The basement is unfinished and waiting for your ideas. There is also a designated chimney for a wood stove in basement for added warmth. Soak up the panoramic view while working out in the sunroom or read the hours away on whatever comfy furniture you'd like to add. The list of updates is long! New granite was installed in the kitchen in 2013. A propane tank was purchased and a line run to the kitchen for the gas stove and oven the same year. Newer flooring in the pantry and sunroom and brand-new carpet on the stairs. One bath was updated and the other completely remodeled in 2017. Old veneer doors and thin skirting were replaced with solid wood doors and classic trim. New windows were installed in 2021. The water is softened by a North Star water softener and heated by the newly installed, Bradford White water heater! The property has many established blackberry, red raspberry and elderberry bushes, two cherry trees, two Asian pear trees and one peach tree. Two young apple trees were planted within the last five years. There are mulberry and walnut trees, as well. Large patches of asparagus and garlic boarder an expansive vegetable garden waiting for seedlings. There are two barns on the property ready to be put to use. One barn houses a large chicken coop looking for new occupants. About four acres of pasture is fenced for whatever animals you want roaming and grazing on the rolling hills. Enjoy sun and moon risings and settings from the covered front porch or back deck. Southwest Electric Co-op and Fair Grove schools complete the package! No matter what this crazy world or economy throws at you, you can feel secure owning this established homestead on Farm Rd. 181. Call to schedule your showing today. Second chances don't come around often!
What the owner loves about this home
The view of endless, rolling hills from the porch swing. I also love the history. We found a Civil War foxhole that contained a hammer and a chunk of molten silver and lead used to make bullets. We've also found a cannonball on the land. Who knows what else is left to be discovered? This property was part of the original chain of Hiland Dairy farms, as well. A great piece of Americana!
