We have owned this farm since 2008 and has been the fulfillment of a lifetime dream of having a self-sustaining small family farm. The property has far exceeded its’ expectations and has been a source of pleasure for all who have visited.
This description does not do justice to the property, or to the house, so I have incorporated many photos in the add, as well as a virtual tour. But nothing compares to seeing the property in person, so if you think that you are ready to step out of the ratrace, and enjoy the simplicity of farm life while providing your family with provisions created by your own hands, come see the farm in person.
What the owner loves about this home
Situated in Charlton, a rural community in central mass, this small farm offers the best of both worlds. Charlton is one hour west of Boston, an hour North of Hartford Ct, and Just an hour East of Springfield. It sits near the crossing of Rt 84, and Rt 20 (Mass Pike) so is very convenient to several major highway, and nearby cosmopolitan areas, yet is in a predominantly rural part of the state. Nestled in the footholds of the Berkshire mountains, in a beautiful forested part of Massachusetts, it offers both simple farm life, and the nearness of city activity.
The property setting is beautiful. It sits on Brookfield rd,and has over 700 ft of road frontage lined with old New England stone walls. The entrance is lined with the same stone walls, and consists of a long, 175 ft driveway lined on both sides with stone walls and lined with 200 year old sugar maple trees. The house sits on a small bluff at the top of the driveway. The property is laid out in a very characteristic old New England style, with a cul-de-sac drive that circles from the house, garage, barn with attached chicken coop, past an old concrete silo, and around past the greenhouse/garden shed, then back to the main house. Being set so far back from the road, with the buildings being in circle formation, the layout offers privacy, as well as a feeling of peaceful seclusion.
