We are seeking one more roommate for our house in SE portland. There are 5 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms and 3 of us here already. Sorry no pets or couples. There is plenty of communal space, a large kitchen and 1/3rd acre huge backyard with ample room for gardening. Rent is $775 per month with first month's rent, plus a security deposit. The house is centrally located close in on 38th about 4 blocks off of 39th (Cesar Chavez) and Powel in SE Portland. It's a great 100 year old house, with lots of light. Parks are within walking distance, and also the ever trendy Hawthorne area is nearby. Excellent access to public transportation, the #9 bus heads directly downtown, and the #75 bus goes to the Hollywood transit center, so it's easy to catch the MAX as well. The room for rent is a comfortable daylight basement room with a private bathroom. Windows look out over the side yard. The room is not furnished, but a nice desk is available for your use. The rent is $775 per month, plus 1/4th utilities: gas/electric/internet/water & garbage. First a month's rent is due on move in, and there is an additional $775 Security deposit which can be spread out over 3 months. Therefore, the total move in cost is $1,550. We are a middle aged couple who have owned the house for 25+ years. We're quiet, drug free, and not averse to cleaning. We're looking for roommates like us in these regards, and ideally roomies who are easy to communicate with and enjoy both living in community and privacy. This is not a house for parties or additional overnight guests. No smoking, no pets, no drugs, and no heavy drinkers. No couples. Willingness to use utilities conservatively is a plus. Passion for recycling is also a plus. The lease is for 1 year, and may be renewed after that term is up.
