We have a unique opportunity for the right person to live rent free in their own private upstairs unit of a SW Portland home. The 1 bedroom, 1 extra room, 1 bath space is in our parent's house in the Ashcreek neighborhood (near Multnomah village). Unit features big windows and a bathtub, shared features include: entrances, internet, kitchen, laundry, storage, yard and plenty of street parking.
The free rent/utilities is in exchange for the person being home for most evening hours (9pm-8am) AND following the specified expectations (see below).
Please note: we can be flexible in the morning time during the work week if you have to leave earlier for work. We can also accommodate a modified overnight schedule, for example being available M-Th and we have other overnight care F-Su.
Ideal roommate will:
- Be compassionate, caring and be home most nights (pre-arranged trips would of course be accommodated)
-Flexible to the changing needs of our parents
- Love big dogs (hair and slobber come in large portions for their extremely loving (also aging) 140lb Saint Bernard.
Expectations:
- Available incase of emergency (fire/water/power outage)
-Being available and compassionate in times of need or confusion; ensure safety.
-Willing to call family when additional support is needed
-Allowing a door alarm / notification system to be placed in the room to wake you if exterior doors are open during the night or if our parents need something.
-example situation: front door alarm sounds and our mother walks out of the house at 5am. Willing to help her find her way back to her room.
Additional considerations:
-We have professional caregivers that are there during the day (8am-9pm).
- Opportunity to expand to paid caregiving hours throughout the day, if interested and qualified
-Primary overnight focus is our Mother, Father is bedridden and not active at night.
- Must be willing to pass a background check.
-Month-to-month lease and security deposit ($500) required
- First month would be a temporary trial period to ensure its a good fit for both parties
-No smoking (tobacco) in the house
-No overnight guests (unless pre arranged)
- Possible option for 1-dog (depending on dog/specific circumstances)
