If you've ever scrolled through Zillow just for the thrill of it (maybe you needed to see the recording studio tucked inside someone's mega-mansion), this one's for you. We dug through for-sale home listings across the country to find the absolute extremes: the grandest, most over-the-top estates money can buy, and the most charmingly compact homes where less is genuinely, beautifully more. Which is your favorite?

The 5 largest homes for sale on Zillow

1. The celebrity party palace — Farmington, CT

Farmington, CT

51,830 sq ft · 21 beds · 40 baths · $9,900,000

Yes, 40 bathrooms. This 51,830-square-foot Connecticut estate has had serious star power in its past. It was once home to boxing champion Mike Tyson, and later Grammy-winning rapper 50 Cent. After more than $3 million in recent renovations, it now boasts an indoor pool and spa, a nightclub, a recording studio, a casino room, a billiards room, a racquetball court, and seven (seven!) kitchens. Outside, there's a resort-style pool with a grotto and waterfall, tennis and basketball courts, and an eight-car garage. It is, quite literally, built to host a party of legendary proportions.

2. The canyon giant — Springville, Utah

Springville, UT

50,738 sq ft · 6 beds · 14 baths · $12,900,000

Here's a head-scratcher: 50,738 square feet, but only six bedrooms. That leaves a lot of square footage for everything else. Set deep in Utah's scenic Hobble Creek Canyon and built in 2010, this mountain estate proves you don't need a giant bedroom count to rack up a giant footprint; you just need very generous features, like a 27-seat movie theater and an indoor pool complete with lazy river.

3. Forty-three bedrooms — Annville, PA

Annville, PA

38,000 sq ft · 43 beds · 43 baths · $3,750,000

The bedroom count is not a typo: this 38,000-square-foot Pennsylvania property comes with a perfectly matched set of 43 bedrooms and 43 bathrooms. Built in 1970 and documented across a whopping 105 listing photos, it's easily the most room-packed home on this list. At $3.75 million (under $100 per square foot), it's also the biggest relative bargain among the giants. Whatever you'd do with about four dozen bedrooms, it's a true blank slate.

4. Pick a bathroom; there’s plenty — Evansville, IN

Evansville, IL

33,547 sq ft · 5 beds · 11 baths · $4,900,000

Here's another home that upends expectations: 33,547 square feet, but just five bedrooms, paired with 11 bathrooms. Built in 1997, this behemoth clearly prioritized grand common spaces (and never too far from a restroom) over piling on bedrooms. At $4.9 million, it's one of the more "attainably" priced mansions on our list.

5. A showpiece in the mountains — Alpine, UT

Alpine, UT

30,912 sq ft · 8 beds · 16 baths · $24,995,000

The most compact of our huge homes is also the priciest. Built in 2000 in the mountain town of Alpine, this 30,912-square-foot estate is listed for just under $25 million, making it the most expensive home on this list. Turns out you can have the (relatively) smallest footprint and still command one of the biggest price tags.

The 5 smallest homes for sale on Zillow

1. Riverfront perfection — Gold Bar, WA

120 sq ft · 1 bed · 1 bath · $250,000

This 120-square-foot cabin near Washington's Cascades is listed at $250,000 — which works out to a cool $2,000+ per square foot. That's luxury-penthouse pricing on a cabin you could park in a two-car garage.

2. Tiny and modern — Bellows Falls, VT

Bellows Falls, VT

128 sq ft · 1 bed · 1 bath · $149,000

Just a hair bigger than our first entry at 128 square feet, this Vermont tiny home was built in 2018. It's small and move-in ready, too. Efficient, cozy, and exactly the kind of place that makes you rethink how much stuff you really need.

3. Tiny living in a small town — Freedom, ME

160 sq ft · 1 bed · 1 bath · $175,000

Built in 2022, this pint-sized property has 67 listing photos — roughly one photo for every 2.4 square feet. And it's located in a town that matches the home's size, with a population of around 700 people. If minimalist living is the dream, it's minimalism in its purest form.

4. Cabin in the Cascades — Marblemount, WA

192 sq ft · 1 bed · 1 bath · $94,000

Next up is this 192-square-foot retreat near North Cascades country, built in 2016 and listed at $94,000. At nearly 200 square feet, it's practically a mansion compared to our 120-square-foot champion. Plus, it's a reminder that "small" is all about perspective.

5. A tiny home at Zion's doorstep — Kanab, UT

200 sq ft · 1 bed · 1 bath · $549,999

Our final tiny home trades square footage for one heck of a backyard. This pint-sized cabin sits among Ponderosa pines on 3.6 acres, just a short drive from the east entrance of Zion National Park. Despite its tiny footprint, this home has spent some time as an Airbnb. The lot comes with a separate bath house, a gazebo kitchen, a grill, and a fire pit. It's the priciest tiny home on our list, possibly showing that when your front yard is one of America's national parks, you don't need much house at all.

Big or small, there's something for everyone

Whether your dream home comes with a nine-hole golf course or fits inside a parking space, the range of what's available on Zillow is broad and impressive. The biggest home on this list could swallow the smallest one more than 400 times over; yet each one is somebody's idea of the perfect place to live.
