Sadly the Landlord died suddenly after the tenants moved in and along with many other real estate offices that do not manage and are a placement service only, I do not have an escrow account so I can't hold the money. Upon my numerous attempts It became very clear it would be difficult for the family to return the money especially since he died so suddenly and the tenant was only there for 1 month. I tried from the moment the lease ended and provided all the contact people and phone numbers I had for the tenants to secure their $1000 back. I do not blame the tenant for being frustrated. It was for me as well! Since I have been in business, 20 years, no Landlord has ever kept the tenants deposit in this manner so I am sorry it had to happen to them.
