Hey Brad, thanks for writing. We are truly sorry for the stress and disruption you’ve experienced. I understand how upsetting this situation has been for you and your family, especially while relocating with a young child. I want to clarify a few important aspects of this situation from my view as a broker and the owner of the company. I was grateful that you were the one to bring this issue to my attention on Tuesday after you contacted me directly with concerns about the breach of contract. I typically resolve matter like this with the licensed agents themselves, which I immediately began to do. As I looked into the matter, reviewed the contract, and spent significant time speaking with both your agent and the seller’s agent to fully understand the situation. Unfortunately, when the IRS got involved in this situation, and took control of certain assets, this became a problem beyond what I could solve as a Broker in Oklahoma. In addition to that, you may recall that the seller initially agreed to bring a significant amount of money to the closing table to meet your terms. When the IRS seized those assets it made it impossible for the seller to fulfill their end of the contract. As you probably know, I have no control over IRS actions, but I also understand that my empathy for you does not ease the burden this has put on your family. All of our agents are independent contractors who file their own taxes. I have no way to know what happens in their personal finances, and that is not my place to know. That said, I want you to know that I am genuinely sorry for the emotional toll this has taken on your family, and I wish the outcome had been different. I’m so thankful that you at least had a few weeks to pivot and make new plans.
