Our experience with Green Scene Home Inspections was extremely concerning. The company’s owner came to our home after a major appliance listed in their report was called into question. During that visit, he made unprompted remarks about my personal l...

Dear Mr. Ferfort, I just wanted to begin by asking, are you ok? Your irrational behavior and responses are quite disturbing at this point and I wonder if you are projecting onto me and my company some other deep frustrations. Primarily, I am writing to address your recent concerns regarding the HVAC systems at your property, as well as the behavior you have exhibited towards my staff and me. While you have declined to complete our formal customer complaint form (which we have as standard protocol so we may do our due diligence on any complaint situation), I still attempted to assist you in understanding the HVAC issues. Your original complaint suggested that our inspector missed the absence of proper components for your exterior HVAC units to function as heat pumps. You submitted bids from HVAC companies that you received of $28,000 and $32,000 for the replacement of both systems. Upon reviewing your inspection report, I noted that we marked "Deficient" and listed numerous items in the HVAC section (for both heating and cooling) that required further evaluation by an HVAC company. We indicated that the systems were deficient, were mismatched, and were over 20 years old. Your threatening behavior towards my staff has caused serious concerns for our safety. As a result, I researched your background for my personal well being before taking a trip out to your home to see what I could do to help resolve your HVAC concerns with my preferred, licensed HVAC technician. I arrived at your home 15 minutes early and waited for the HVAC technician, whom I paid for, before we entered the property to assess the situation. During our visit, I noted that your thermostats were different from those present during our inspection. Your original thermostats had no Em Heat setting. When I inquired about them, you became confrontational. I attempted to de-escalate the situation by finding common ground, mentioning that I noticed you grew up in Wylie, near where I live, and that you once owned an inspection company. Your response was highly accusatory regarding my comments. I explained that our company motto is "Do the right thing, Always tell the truth and Help others," again trying to assure you of my intent to assist. However, you continued to be extremely confrontational, leading us to wrap up our visit after inspecting the exterior units. I provided you with a copy of your signed inspection agreement and reiterated that we fulfilled our obligations, as evidenced by the "deficient" markings and the listed deficiencies in your report. I advised you to have an attorney review the underlined sections of your signed agreement, at which point you said that you had no attorney and then admitted to using ChatGPT to impersonate a lawyer to generate legal responses and threats to our company. As a fellow contractor and business owner who interacts with the public, I urge you to consider the impact of your approach. Compassion is vital in business, even in difficult situations. Regarding the HVAC systems, my licensed HVAC technician provided the following information: * One of your heat systems is compatible according to the manufacturer's instructions, though it is not the most efficient. * The other system is not compatible and is improperly wired at the thermostat (which, as noted, was different from the one present during our inspection). This would require wiring modifications. My technician provided a quote of just over $17,000 for replacing both systems, significantly lower than the $28,000 and $32,000 bids you received. This disparity highlights why I engage technicians I trust. It appears your technicians may have provided highly inflated prices. Despite our findings indicating we acted appropriately, you have chosen to escalate this matter by throwing a "digital temper tantrum," attempting to damage my company's reputation through every online review outlet you could find, because you didn't get your way. I find this behavior to be immature, regrettable and hope you seek the necessary support. Let this be your notice that this is the end of our dealings together. Any other communications should go through our attorneys at this point. Sincerely, Clayton Bailey Thank you!

Despite all of the positive reviews about Green Scene Home Inspections, our experience with the company was unfortunately very negative. We had a regular pre-buy inspection performed back in August of 2023, the results of which did not show anything ...

We understand your frustration with this situation. Homeownership can take very fast turns for better and for worse at any given time. But please, if you're going to tell the story online, tell the whole story. As the owner of the company, I got involved when you accused our inspector of not checking your dishwasher and filed a complaint. I explained our process to inspect a dishwasher, checking it at 3 different points during our 3+ hour inspection: when we turn it on, then halfway through the cycle when checking the garbage disposal (to make sure it's running properly/not leaking), then at the very end of our inspection to make sure it runs a proper cycle. Then we personally paid for an appliance repair company to go diagnose your dishwasher. You'll recall that he discovered your control board was beeping with error messages and that the main control panel needs to be replaced. He further explained that a new main control panel was going to be about the same price as replacing the dishwasher (around $600). I asked him if the beeping sound happened immediately and in any cycle that it was attempting to run, and he said yes. "It's just going to beep at you now, no matter what." This was the moment we knew that your dishwasher began malfunctioning AFTER our inspection. There was no way we would have missed a continuous beeping sound during the entire inspection. Especially when our inspector sets up his work station in the kitchen to complete his written report! AND, we have pictures of the dishwasher during the end of the cycle to show that it was running with no errors. Moral of the story: I live by three golden rules that my great grandfather taught. Do the Right Thing Always Tell the Truth Help Others. I have the recorded phone conversation between you and I discussing these matters, as well as the phone conversation between me and the Appliance repair guy that I paid for. I have all the proof to show that we did nothing wrong. We refuse to be cyber-bullied because you didn't get money out of us. Again, we're sorry that this situation occurred for you, but I know that we did the right thing.
