Howard was born March 10, 1942 in Mobile Alabama. Graduated from Murphy High School, attended Auburn University, The University of Alabama and the University of South Alabama. Married Irene Brabner Yeager, his high school sweetheart, on September 29, 1961, and they have raised three children; Ashley Yeager Garris, Lesley Yeager Vallas and Jeffery Allen Yeager.
