I was raised in the Rio Grande Valley, which is much farther south than most people consider “South Texasâ€. It’s more like Northern Mexico actually, but along the northern edge (Texas) of the Rio Grande River. That said, I spent 23 years in banking in the Harlingen area, dealing predominantly with agriculture related industry. Basically, small farms and real estate were the main businesses in our rural community.
