When I was 18 years old, my Mom, a 30-year real estate agent, encouraged me to get my real estate license.  I was the youngest person in the class and the only one without a mortgage.  I quickly sold one house and went off to college to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA.  I worked for 20 years in technical sales and learned how to understand customer needs and unique ways to create value for various types of clients.
