Response from Katie Garrett on 10/17/2025
John, I’m genuinely sorry to hear you feel this way about your experience, though I must respectfully clarify several key details. You first hired me after trying to sell your home on your own (FSBO), and from the beginning, you expressed that you didn’t believe in paying real estate agents for their work. You also acknowledged that your home was priced significantly higher than the market supported, and we discussed this multiple times throughout the listing. Despite that, I continued to market your property, host showings, and keep you updated, even when the market response was limited due to pricing. After several months, I secured the ideal buyer for your situation — a cash buyer who was also a licensed broker. She needed to close quickly, waived appraisal, and understood she was paying over market value. This allowed you to sell your home for more than similar homes in the area. Regarding the closing statement, I sent you a detailed breakdown of estimated closing costs when we received the initial offer, and the final statement from the title company reflected nearly identical figures. I also reviewed those numbers with you over the phone in detail. When you later mentioned a $5,000 discrepancy, you weren’t able to provide any documentation to support that difference, and the title company confirmed the final amount was accurate. As for the closing day, you and the buyer coordinated the time directly. I explained several times that I had a medical appointment related to my pregnancy at that specific time, and offered to move the closing to later that day or the following morning so I could attend with you. You declined and confirmed you were fine proceeding as scheduled. I take immense pride in representing my clients with integrity, transparency, and professionalism. Every decision and effort made during your sale was in your best interest. I’m proud that we achieved your ultimate goal — selling your property for above-market value — and I wish you the best moving forward.
