Having managed over 400 transactions in the past decade, this review comes as a surprise. I’d like to respectfully clarify a few key points for accuracy. The property in question was purchased & fully renovated by a team of local investors with professionalism and precision. It was also in full compliance with all township requirements. The fire safety inspection was requested well in advance, but the township’s inspection schedule and inspector’s summer vacation created the delay—not any oversight on my part. It was unfortunate that the Township did not have coverage for a multiple week vacation for our excellent inspector. Regarding buyers request to store personal belongings prior to closing: sellers are not obligated to provide occupancy or storage before title transfer. While the seller did offer a free use of the home for all of the buyers personal possessions & furnishings, it was the buyer that suggested the $1,000 fee for storage in addition to other requests that were above and beyond the typical scope of a real estate transaction. For liability reasons, counsel felt it a good idea to consider the buyers suggestion of the $1,000 fee to cover legal and insurance considerations. This was not an attempt to “profit” but rather to protect all parties involved. It was the buyer who ultimately decided he would live in one of his other local homes over the weekend and wait the 1 business day to close. I take pride in clear communication and professional service, and I regret that your experience left you with a different impression. I wish you and your family many happy years in your new home.
