Matt was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, and attended college at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.  Like many who have settled in the Vail Valley, Matt first moved to the area immediately after college in the fall of 2002.  He left a couple times to pursue his passion for politics and public policy in Washington, DC, but ultimately he was drawn back to the mountains.
