I’m sorry this happened to your family, with that said I was not at settlement because settlement was to occur the previous week but did not occur because the buyers did not submit all their paperwork to the lender. In addition I had a family reunion scheduled years in advance for the following weekend and had advised the buyers as such. I achieved a $10,000 price reduction a $3000 credit for deferred maintenance and the buyers choose not to use any of this equity or money to do anything to their roof in two spots, there were patches where chimney flue went up through. The buyers were aware of this and chose not to do anything. We had 7 inches of rain on the tail end of a hurricane and the first time I heard from the buyers was a month later in frantic mode and accusatory. I asked if they remediated any drywall or ceiling material so mold was not to be created they told me no and that mold was present. I told them this was their house and they were responsible for even if issues like this occurred let’s try to figure out the best way to attack it. I was in touch with the buyers within less than a few hours after being notified of the situation. I was accused of being money hungry. For the record I was attempting to get 84 lumber and some other local contractors including myself to Pitchin to get them a new roof on a veterans program. Again I’m sorry this happened to your family but it certainly could’ve been handled a lot more professionally than what you have. I have requested that Zillow remove this review ASAP as it is completely filled with inaccuracy.
