I remember being four years old and it was lunch time in the Kolakowski household. I’d sit my mom down at the kitchen table and produce a hand-drawn (I couldn’t write yet) picture menu with her lunch choices. She could pick from carrots, a peanut butter sandwich, cheese and crackers, or cookies and milk. She would tell me what she wanted.
